In this article, I will share my personal opinion about what happened to my cat. I will also try to share some tips and advice approved by veterinarians. If you follow all my tips and advice, your cats will be safe forever.

The Most Common Causes of Cat Losing Fur:

In research, it’s noted that normally a cat loses thousands of hairs per day on average, depending on the species and location. Sometimes, they can lose millions of hairs several times a year. Everything mentioned is based on a demo research from physical sources like Google or from organizations. However, if your cat loses its hair due to any disease, there are many causes for it to happen. It occurs due to many common causes that we may not be aware of. Here, I am mentioning some common and dangerous causes you should stop:

Allergies: Allergies are common diseases for cats. All cats have slight allergies, but it depends on the type of allergy. Many types of allergies can affect your cat and can come from various causes. It can happen if you are careless about your cat’s hygiene, such as not cleaning your cat regularly or feeding it unhealthy food. It can also happen if you give your cat random food regularly. Allergies can also come from other cats. If your cat lives a free life, this disease can easily affect it. Therefore, stop allowing free movement of your cat to avoid this problem.

Skin Infections: Skin infection is another significant cause of falling cat hair. Skin infections can occur due to various problems, with the most common causes being allergies, poor grooming, ringworm, abscesses, skin parasites, or anything else that can lead to skin infections. If your cat has these problems, you should treat them as soon as possible.

Hormonal Imbalance: Hormonal imbalance is a natural occurrence in all cats, with many cats suffering from this problem. If a cat has this problem, it will lose its fur very easily, and the hair loss will be significant. Your cat will face this problem if it experiences food shortage, not just any food shortage but also a lack of proper healthy food. If a cat does not get proper nutrition, it will suffer from hormonal imbalance, which mostly impacts a cat’s fur. So, if you realize that you are not providing proper care regarding food, become aware, as you will face a big problem.

Anxiety Stress: Anxiety and stress can also have an impact on your cat, damaging its normal life. If your cat suffers from anxiety and stress, it will become unable to lead a happy or healthy life. Anxiety and stress can also cause your cat to lose its fur. So, keep your cat free from anxiety and stress for a happy life.

Nutritional Problems: Every cat owner should be aware of cat nutrition because if your cat suffers from malnutrition, any problem will affect your cat randomly. Malnutrition also hinders the natural growth of your cat and is one of the causes of random cat hair loss. So, if you are sure that your cat is suffering from a nutrition shortage, take proper care, and the problem will be fixed soon.

Parasites: Parasites are a dangerous problem for your cat and can be the cause of your cat’s hair loss. Parasites can create more problems for your cat, so be aware of them. Ensure that your cat is free from all parasites.

Human Shampoo: If you use human shampoo to clean your cat, you will face problems. Human shampoo has a different pH, and cats cannot endure it. You should use cat shampoo to clean your cat; otherwise, your cat will suffer from many problems, including hair loss. So, if you use human shampoo frequently, avoid it.

Food Problems: We feed our cats regularly, but what are we feeding them? We should select proper food for our cats and not give them random food. For a solution, you can consult an expert with past experience in caring for cats or choose a veterinarian near you. Finally, search on the internet. If you feed your cat the same food humans eat or too much oily food regularly, your cat will have many problems, including hair loss. I am just advising you to avoid it. The article is not about this, so I am not describing all the details, but our website has all the solutions; you should explore it.

Ringworm Effect: We have already published an article about ringworm. The article contains everything about ringworm. You should read the article once, but here I am describing it briefly as the topic is included. Ringworm mostly affects cats’ skin and is not only the reason for cat hair loss but also the reason for cat skin infections. Ringworm is a dangerous disease for all cats, so you should take proper care if your cat has a ringworm problem or read our article about ringworms to find all the solutions.

Poor Diet: Make sure your cat gets a proper diet. Cats are hunter-gatherers and naturally carnivorous animals, so owners should compensate for the lack of protein. If they do not get a proper diet, many problems, including hair loss, can occur. So, ensure your cat’s proper diet.

When You Should Search for Signs and Symptoms to Identify Fur Losing Issues:

Naturally, cats shed a significant amount of hair from their bodies, but how will you understand if your cat has any problem, and the hair falling is causing it? If you notice that your cat is losing hair anywhere and the amount is always significant, you should be worried. Also, if you notice any visible signs on your cat’s body, such as wounds, ringworm, sores, or skin infections, you should investigate the reason. If you notice your cat becoming physically and mentally weak, you should investigate the symptoms of hair loss. At that time, you should take immediate action for your cat, determine the causes, and seek advice from a veterinarian if there are no visible signs on your cat’s body.

Some Tips for You on How to Treat Your Cat:

If you understand that your cat is losing its hair due to any reasonable cause, you should give it some treats and provide self-treatment if there are no physical problems. If your cat has any physical problem, a doctor is needed. Here are some tips for treating your cat:

Physical Examination: Physically examine your cat. For this, use auscultation, especially by doctors, to check different parts of your cat’s body, specifically the chest, to determine its health condition. If you are unable to do this, take your cat to a vet near you.

History Taking: If your cat has previously visited a vet, try to gather previous reports from them, as they will help determine the problem more easily. If you obtained the cat from elsewhere, contact the previous owner for its history. Also, talk about its diet, behavior, vaccinations, and feeding; track everything from its history.

Skin Scrapings: Skin scraping involves scraping your cat’s body slightly to check the skin for parasites that may live deep within it. If you are not an expert at this, take your cat to a vet for a full check-up.

Fungal Cultures: Fungal cultures are common, and you can use dermatophyte as a healer. They help bacteria grow, and dermatophytes contain antibiotics to suppress fungal cultures.

Blood Tests: Blood tests are necessary to understand the cat’s health condition. If your cat is suffering from any problem, it will show in the report. So, if your cat is suffering from any problem, do a blood test, as it is essential for primary treatment, and all veterinarians recommend it.

Skin Biopsy: Skin biopsy involves removing small pieces of skin from your cat’s body for testing. It is important for diagnosing problems in a cat. The skin pieces are taken through surgery, so you should take your cat to a veterinarian for the test.

Diagnostic Imaging: Diagnostic imaging, such as X-rays of the whole body, is necessary to know about all body issues. It will show all problems as images. Ultrasound is also included in diagnostic imaging, so do it as soon as possible.

When to Seek a Veterinarian:

If your cat is suffering from any of the problems mentioned above, be aware of it. If you realize that all or some of these problems are affecting your cat, take care of it first. If proper care doesn’t resolve the issues, seek an alternative way. Some problems cannot be treated at home. If you become unable to treat the problems, immediately seek a veterinarian. If you wait for a serious moment, any dangerous problem can occur with your cat, which may be irrecoverable. So, pay close attention to your cat; if any symptoms are visible on its body, take action immediately.
